Slug like sick and dull
All the weight and all the pull
That guts my scalding will
And splinters my falling thrill
Slug like heavy and slow
Like pensive over pensive I go
All fall into a vat, thick
Overgrown and tangled thoughts stick
I grasp until I sleep
And fall immediately so deep
Like weather, like water
Like peonies fall and flutter

There’s this lingering of who I used to be

It’s been so long since I saw her

I don’t really remember

Who she was

Or what she asked me to do

But I don’t think I’ll see her again

So I guess it’s okay
