A Returning Echo

Deep in the well
The water is cold
It, is quiet
Many things are silent
Many things stay there

Unintending the world around
Bellowing their echoes down
They rip upon the water
Splashes trickle down
The faces of these walls

Coins drop a clang
Leaves a smarting, ringing open
Hear the drop pang
Sinking heavy to the floor
A sound that ever tires

A cherished chance when one,
Sends soft echoes down
Let them sift upon the water
Let them sing around
I softly sound return

And with momentous few
Softly lingered at my edge
Peering in my view
Who lets soft petals down
They meet me, twirling ’round

The time always comes when people stop
To look upon this well
Sometimes when the petals drop,
It is hard to tell
